Tourism will Boost Nigeria Economy, Create Job Opportunities


Tour Operator and Director, Explore With Jimmy Theophilus, Mr Ojo Folajimi, has disclosed that tourism will boost Nigerian econmy and creat job opportunities, if Nigeria could focus more on tourism.

He said the history and business of tourism began when wealthy citizens of ancient Rome decided they would rather spend their summers away from the city, taking trips to the countryside and coast

Tourism has been one of the major source of income where some countries generate revenue, globalization and the growing trends of travelling have increased the number of people travelling to foreign countries each year. This frwoijg trends has brought with it increased GDP growth due to tourism spending while some countries receive more visitors than other

For example, Europe plays a vital role in the economic impact of the global travel industry. For the European economy alone, travel and tourism directly contributed an estimated 782 billion euros to the GDP in 2018 and 14:4 million jobs through direct employment in the sector
