In LAGOS-Nigeria, on the 10th of November, 2025, Nigeria’s fast-growing digital economy received a major boost this week as Rack Centre, West Africa’s leading carrier- and cloud-neutral data centre, announced a partnership with EdgeNext, a global content delivery network (CDN) and cloud hosting provider. The collaboration brings EdgeNext’s global acceleration network to Nigeria, hosted within Rack Centre’s advanced LGS2 facility in Lagos.

With more than 200 million people, with most age under 30, Nigeria is a country where digital demand is outpacing infrastructure. From online learning and e-commerce to gaming and social media, millions of Nigerians now rely daily on digital services that depend on fast and stable connections. EdgeNext’s entry promises to make that experience smoother by reducing latency and improving performance for video streaming, apps, and online platforms.

Terence Wang, CEO of EdgeNext said – “launching our CDN and cloud hosting services in Nigeria marks a key milestone for EdgeNext. By partnering with Rack Centre, we are enabling enterprises, developers, and consumers to enjoy more reliable, low-latency services, paving the way for a new era of cloud and edge computing”. Rack Centre’s CEO, Lars Johannisson, added that the move underscores Nigeria’s growing appeal to international technology providers: “EdgeNext’s arrival at Rack Centre demonstrates the strength of Nigeria’s digital infrastructure ecosystem. Our LGS2 facility provides the capacity, connectivity, and sustainability needed to serve this market effectively”. Fanning widely beyond technology and its broader impact.

Family and cultural implications: improved digital infrastructure could reshape daily life for Nigerian families. Faster, more reliable internet enables smoother access to online education, telemedicine and remote work. Offering new flexibility for households juggling school, business, and care responsibilities. It also strengthens cultural ties, allowing families to share and preserve Nigerian music, film, and storytelling traditions across global platforms with higher quality and reach.

Business transformation: for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), EdgeNext’s cloud hosting services offer lower IT costs and faster deployment, giving local entrepreneurs the tools to compete with larger global players. Start-ups in fintech, logistics, and creative industries stand to benefit the most, gaining the speed and scalability to expand their customer base across Africa.

Social and economic shifts: EdgeNext’s technology could help bridge Nigeria’s digital divide. With better content delivery in more regions, previously underserved communities can access online learning, e-governance, and digital marketplaces. Moreover, EdgeNext’s gaming cloud, tailored for Nigeria’s vibrant youth population, may further position the country as Africa’s hub for e-sports and digital entertainment.

Sustainability and future growth: hosted in Rack Centre’s energy-efficient, 13.5MW campus powered by sustainable sources, the initiative aligns with Nigeria’s wider push toward greener tech infrastructure. As data demand grows, environmentally responsible operations will be key to sustaining long-term digital development.

Looking ahead, both companies see this partnership as a foundation for innovation in smart cities, fintech, education and healthcare. These are sectors central to Nigeria’s next decade of economic transformation.
