Dozens of Bodies Found at Libyan Detention Sites

Dozens of bodies have been found at both official and unofficial detention centers in Libya, raising serious concerns about torture, enforced disappearances, and possible extrajudicial executions. Human rights organizations and the United Nations have long accused the Stabilization Support Apparatus (SSA) of committing abuses at these facilities.
UN human rights chief Volker Türk confirmed the discoveries, which came in the aftermath of violent clashes in Tripoli in May, triggered by the death of SSA leader Abdul Ghani al-Kikli. Over 80 bodies were recovered in total, including charred remains and decomposing corpses stored in hospital morgues. A burial site was also located at the Tripoli Zoo.
These findings follow the earlier discovery of mass graves in February, many containing the bodies of migrants.
