New MSF Report Exposes Sudan’s Devastating Crisis

A new report by Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) highlights the devastating toll that violence, insecurity, and hunger have taken on communities in South Darfur, Sudan. Titled Voices from South Darfur, the report features powerful firsthand accounts showing how relentless violence, the collapse of the healthcare system, and a weak international response have pushed people to the brink.
In 2023, South Darfur was gripped by intense urban fighting that decimated hospitals and key infrastructure, exposing civilians to widespread sexual violence and arbitrary arrests. Although ground battles have ceased, air and drone strikes persist, and travel by road or farming remains unsafe. MSF has treated over 10,000 children for acute malnutrition and provided care for thousands of undernourished women and girls.
The organization is urging the international community to step up humanitarian aid and support local responders who have the knowledge and ability to deliver life-saving assistance.
