Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has demanded the suspension of top police officials following the death of social media influencer Albert Ojwang while in police custody.

Ojwang had been arrested on Friday and charged with “cyber harassment” after posting critical comments about Deputy Inspector General Eliud Lagat.

Gachagua criticized the move to suspend lower-ranking officers at Central Police Station, calling it an attempt to mislead the public. He argued that a serious investigation should begin with the deputy inspector general.

The incident has intensified concerns among both local and international observers over the government’s response to dissent.
