Opposition Cries Foul as Burundi’s Ruling Party Claims Victory

Burundi’s ruling party, CNDD-FDD, has secured all 100 seats in the parliamentary elections, receiving more than 96% of the vote across every province. While the electoral commission reported only minor issues during the process, opposition parties and human rights organizations criticized the election as flawed.
The commission stated that the results would now be sent to the Constitutional Court, which is responsible for validating the outcome and announcing the final results by June 20.
