Hosts Kenya – making their debut at the African Nations Championship (CHAN) – took down two-time champions Morocco 1-0 on Sunday in a suspense-ridden match. Playing half the game with a player short, the Harambee Stars secured a decisive victory, which puts them on the verge of a historic quarter-final place.

Tanzania, the other co-hosts of the tournament, scored two goals in the first 20 minutes of their match on Saturday against Madagascar to reach the quarterfinals for the first time in their history. The victory led the Tanzanian government to present each player with big financial rewards.
