Liberian airport authorities temporarily suspended all incoming flights following a near-crash landing involving a private jet carrying President Joseph Boakai. Reports indicate that one of the jet’s tires burst upon landing, forcing the plane to come to an abrupt stop on the runway.

In an official statement, the airport authorities acknowledged the incident but denied claims that it was linked to poor runway conditions. “The issue resulted solely from a mechanical failure of the aircraft’s tire and was unrelated to any structural problems with the runway,” the statement clarified.

President Boakai was returning from Nigeria, where he had attended an ECOWAS meeting. The incident ignited conversations on social media regarding the president’s safety and the use of private jets.
