Boat Accident Leaves Dozens Dead in DR Congo

At least 30 people have been confirmed dead following the sinking of a boat in Equateur Province, located in the northwest of the country. Rescue teams are currently searching for many others still missing. According to local authorities, the vessel—also carrying cargo—may have been overloaded and impacted by severe weather conditions.

In the Democratic Republic of Congo, rivers and lakes serve as key transportation routes, particularly in regions lacking proper infrastructure. Unfortunately, fatal boat accidents have become a frequent occurrence.
