Farmer-Herder Conflict Claims 100 Lives in Nigeria

An overnight attack in Benue State has left at least 100 people dead, amid ongoing clashes between herders and farmers over access to land and water. The conflict has led to widespread displacement and poses a serious risk to food security.
Amnesty International confirmed the incident and urged Nigerian authorities to take urgent action to curb the rising number of deadly attacks in the region. The organization warned that continued violence—primarily impacting farming communities—has already caused mass displacement and could worsen food insecurity.
In response, President Bola Tinubu has instructed security chiefs to enforce his earlier orders aimed at restoring peace and stability in Benue State.
