Shots Fired As Police Disperse Protesting Students In Ghana

Police in the northern city of Tamale reportedly fired warning shots to disperse students of the Tamale Technical University who were protesting against the hike in fees. The students also accused the school authorities of mismanagement and failing to address their concern.
A student leader said the protest became necessary to ensure an improvement in their welfare and investment in the school’s infrastructure, stressing that the right to “quality education” is guaranteed by the Ghanaian constitution.
