Thousands Displaced In Kenya Amid Fears of Rising Lake Naivasha

Thousands of families have been forced to leave their homes due to the rising water levels of Lake Naivasha, situated northwest of the capital, Nairobi. The lake’s surrounding area is home to small-scale farms and hotels. The flow of agro-chemicals and sewage into the lake is posing environmental risks, local authorities have warned.
The Deputy County Commissioner of the nearby town of Naivasha, Josiah Odongo, has called on residents not to ignore relocation orders.
