U.S Threatens Visa Ban For Corrupt Nigerian Officials

The U.S. mission in Nigeria has said government officials in the West African country who engage in corruption will be denied U.S. visas. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the mission wrote that “fighting corruption knows no border”.
The statement comes after the chairperson of the country’s Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Ola Olukoyede, warned that Nigeria is increasingly regarded as a nation with entrenched corruption and impunity.
The U.S. has previously imposed visa restrictions on Nigerians accused of other infractions, including election disruption.
