Ugandan Army Foils Attack On Religious Shrine As Pilgrims Gather

Ugandan authorities have urged the public to remain calm following loud explosions near the Munyonyo Martyrs Shrine, a site that draws thousands of Christian pilgrims annually to commemorate Ugandan martyrs who died for their faith.
According to the Ugandan army, two individuals identified as “terrorists” were killed in what it described as an intelligence-driven operation that prevented a planned attack. The military added that security forces remain on high alert to ensure that the Martyrs Day celebrations continue without interruption.
