Victor Osimhen completes N37bn annual salary move to Galatasaray
Nigerian and Napoli striker Victor Osimhen has sealed a mega-money permanent transfer to Turkish giants Galatasaray in a deal worth €75 million.
The 26-year-old will earn a staggering €21 million (about N37 billion) per season at the Istanbul-based club, making him one of the highest-paid players in Turkish football history.
His arrival marks a bold statement of intent from Galatasaray as they prepare to defend their Süper Lig title and challenge in Europe.
Osimhen, who spent the 2024/25 season on loan at Galatasaray, signed a four-year contract that includes a €15 million net salary, a €1 million loyalty bonus, and €5 million in image rights annually.
The transfer fee will be paid in two instalments: €40 million upfront and the remaining €35 million by the end of the 2025/26 season.
Additionally, Napoli will receive 10% of the profit from any future sale, not the total transfer fee, as confirmed in an official statement by Galatasaray.
“An agreement has been reached with SSC Napoli for the transfer of Victor James Osimhen. The total fee is €75 million, and 10% of any future profit from a subsequent transfer will go to Napoli,” the club said.
Osimhen made an instant impact during his loan stint, scoring 26 goals and providing 5 assists in 30 league games and adding 6 goals and 1 assist in the Europa League.
His goals helped Galatasaray win the 2024/25 Süper Lig title, finishing 11 points ahead of arch-rivals Fenerbahçe.
The Nigerian forward was flown into Istanbul by private jet and welcomed by thousands of ecstatic fans who tracked his arrival live on Galatasaray’s official YouTube channel. Speaking to reporters, a visibly emotional Osimhen shared his joy.
“It feels great to be back. This is home for me, my family, and my friends. I want to thank everyone who made this happen: the President, Vice President, Coach Okan Buruk, George Gardi, and especially the fans who pushed for my return. I’m happy to be here. The story continues.”
Napoli signed Osimhen from Lille in 2020 for €78.9 million, including player exchanges. The Serie A club now receives a sizeable return and a stake in Osimhen’s future market value.
