Kogi State has partnered with Sufpay Ltd to empower 2,310 youths with CNG conversion skills across 21 LGAs.<\/p>\n
The Kogi State Government has launched a large-scale youth training programme targeting 2,310 young people across its 21 Local Government Areas, aimed at equipping them with skills in Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) conversion technology as part of broader efforts to stimulate economic growth and tackle unemployment.<\/p>\n
The initiative, implemented in collaboration with Sufpay Ltd, is in line with Nigeria\u2019s national shift towards cleaner, sustainable energy alternatives and reflects Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo\u2019s campaign promise to prioritise youth empowerment.<\/p>\n
Speaking in Lokoja, the Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Femi Fanwo, described the scheme as a \u201cbold and strategic move\u201d to position Kogi for the emerging energy revolution.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is about creating a new generation of skilled professionals who can compete and contribute meaningfully in the evolving energy sector. CNG is the future, and we are proud to be preparing our youths for it,\u201d Fanwo said.<\/p>\n
He noted that the training will also act as a non-kinetic tool for addressing insecurity by providing productive engagement for the youth population.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur Governor, His Excellency Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, made a clear commitment to youth empowerment, and this programme is a clear demonstration of that commitment. We are building development around our youth because they are the greatest asset of our state,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
The Commissioner also commended Sufpay Ltd for its technical support and dedication to the success of the initiative.<\/p>\n
The training is being decentralised across four centres – Lokoja, Okene, Idah, and Kabba – allowing participants to learn in familiar environments and easing access to the programme.<\/p>\n
The scheme not only supports the state\u2019s economic diversification drive but also aligns with national policies to reduce dependency on petrol and promote the use of alternative fuel sources.<\/p>\n
According to the state government, the programme is expected to boost employability, increase local technical capacity, and enhance the overall resilience of the Kogi economy.<\/p>\n
