Saied has maintained he does not interfere with the judiciary and insists that accountability applies to all.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1497\" data-end=\"1814\">Nonetheless, many prominent opposition leaders remain behind bars, including Rached Ghannouchi of the Islamist Ennahda party and Abir Moussi of the secular Free Constitutional Party. They are among dozens of politicians, lawyers, and journalists facing harsh sentences under Tunisia\u2019s anti-terror and conspiracy laws.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1816\" data-end=\"1888\">Some dissidents have fled the country and are now seeking asylum abroad.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1890\" data-end=\"2038\">Last year, Saied labeled his political opponents \u201ctraitors and terrorists\u201d and warned that any judges who acquit them would be considered complicit.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2040\" data-end=\"2317\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">\u201cPrisons are overflowing with Saied\u2019s critics, activists, journalists, and lawyers,\u201d said Saib Souab, son of jailed legal scholar Ahmed Souab. \u201cTunisia has become an open-air prison. Even those not imprisoned live in a constant state of fear, at risk of arrest at any moment.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2040\" data-end=\"2317\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">\n<h6
