U.S. president Donald Trump\u2019s so-called reciprocal tariffs\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2025\/04\/02\/trump-reciprocal-tariffs-countries-chart-imports-united-states.html\">initially<\/a>\u00a0came into effect in April as the second quarter kicked off.<\/p>\n<p>The duties were then however\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2025\/04\/09\/trump-announces-90-day-tariff-pause-for-at-least-some-countries.html\">temporarily<\/a>\u00a0reduced, with the last few months plagued by much uncertainty as negotiations for trade agreement were underway. Some higher sectoral tariffs, including on\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2025\/07\/22\/trumps-tariffs-take-their-toll-on-europes-auto-giants-in-charts.html\">autos<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2025\/07\/09\/trump-trade-tariffs-cars-copper.html\">steel and aluminum<\/a>, have also been in effect.<\/p>\n<div class=\"MidResponsive-midResponsiveContainer\">\n<div id=\"MidResponsive-1\" class=\"\" data-module=\"mps-slot\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>The European Union over the weekend\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2025\/07\/27\/trump-european-union-eu-trade-tariffs.html\">agreed<\/a>\u00a0to a trade framework with the U.S., which includes 15% tariffs being imposed on the bloc.
