Sixty-two years after its previous representation, Liberia has been granted a non-permanent member seat on the UN Security Council. With 181 votes, the west African nation was chosen by a resounding majority of UN members.<\/p>\n
President Joseph Boakai declared that Liberia’s election was more than just a diplomatic win in a speech to the country following the historic vote.
