The family of former President Edgar Lungu, who passed away in South Africa on June 5, has stated that it was his explicit wish for current President Hakainde Hichilema to stay away from his remains.<\/p>\n
Tensions have intensified as the family accuses the government of trying to override their funeral plans and disregarding Lungu\u2019s final wishes. The two leaders had remained political adversaries up until Lungu\u2019s death.<\/p>\n
While the government proposed a state funeral at an official lodge in Lusaka, Lungu\u2019s party, the Patriotic Front, is demanding the ceremony be held at their party headquarters.
