Saudi Arabia has ramped up a critical overland oil route to full capacity, pumping 7 million barrels a day through its East-West pipeline to bypass the vulnerable Strait of Hormuz, according to a person familiar with the matter.<\/em><\/p>\n

The development marks a key moment in the kingdom\u2019s long-prepared contingency strategy that is designed to protect state revenues, cushion global energy markets and the everyday economies that depend on them. That internal balance helps sustain jobs, manufacturing activity and public services tied to energy availability. Although, the alternative route does not fully replace the scale of Hormuz, which previously handled roughly 15 million barrels a day of crude. The shortfall stresses the continued vulnerability of global supply chains, and the importance of infrastructure that can adapt in times of crisis.<\/p>\n

There are also growing concerns about the security of the Red Sea corridor. Yemen\u2019s Houthi group has signaled deeper involvement in the regional conflict, raising fears that shipping lanes near the Bab el-Mandeb strait could come under threat.
