President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji (BAO), on his decisive victory in the state’s governorship election, describing the outcome as a strong endorsement of continuity, stability and people-focused governance.

In a statement following Saturday’s poll, the President praised the people of Ekiti for their peaceful participation in the electoral process and for expressing confidence in the governor’s leadership through the ballot box. He also commended security agencies for maintaining law and order throughout the election, helping to ensure a calm and credible exercise.

With reference to positive responses amongst many residents across Ekiti’s towns and rural communities, the election result reflects expectations that ongoing investments in roads, agriculture, education, healthcare and job creation, will continue over the next four years. Farmers, traders, students and small business owners are expected to be among those watching closely, as the administration moves to expand development programmes, aimed at improving livelihoods and intensifying economic opportunities.

Governor Oyebanji’s victory is historic. This re-election makes him the first governor in Ekiti State’s history to secure back-to-back re-election. The achievement emphasizes a wide public support for his first-term policies, which the Presidency noted that it delivered progress in infrastructural development, youth empowerment, agricultural productivity and rural development under the BAO agenda.

Political observers say the renewed mandate provides an opportunity for the state to build on existing projects, attract greater investment and strengthen local economic growth. Improved infrastructure, expanded support for agriculture and entrepreneurship, are expected to play a key role in boosting domestic incomes, creating jobs and enhancing social welfare across communities.

President Tinubu also used the occasion to urge the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), to sustain efforts toward delivering peaceful, free, fair and credible elections, as the country prepares for the upcoming Osun governorship election and next year’s general elections.

Calling for unity after the contest, the President encouraged Governor Oyebanji to remain inclusive in governance and carry all segments of the state along, regardless of political affiliation. He likewise commended other candidates who participated in the election, noting that democratic competition strengthens governance and civic engagement.

Reaffirming the Federal Government’s commitment to working closely with the Ekiti State Government, President Tinubu said continued collaboration would help deliver more developmental projects, expand access to essential services and accelerate economic progress in line with the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

He concluded by wishing Governor Oyebanji wisdom, strength and good health, as he begins a new term dedicated to advancing the welfare and prosperity of the people of Ekiti State.
